Two actions, several ways to reach each. The game never cares which input you used, so you can switch between keyboard and touch mid-run without anything changing.
What to know
- Jump: space, up arrow, W, Enter, a click, or a tap on the upper two thirds of the game area.
- Duck: down arrow, S, or holding a finger on the lower third of the game area.
- Pause: P or Escape. The game also pauses itself the moment you switch tabs.
- Hold the jump button for a full 104-unit jump; release it early for a lower hop.
- Holding down while airborne drops you faster, which can save a jump you started too early.
In more detail
Two rules quietly remove deaths you did not cause. **Jump buffering**: a press made up to 120 milliseconds before you land is remembered and fires the instant you touch the ground, so a fast sequence never swallows your input. **Coyote time**: for 80 milliseconds after leaving the ground you can still jump, so a press that arrives a frame late still works. Neither makes the game easier in any way that matters — they only remove the deaths where the game ignored you.
Questions
Can I play with just the keyboard?
Entirely. Tab to the game area — it takes focus and shows a visible ring — then space and the arrow keys do everything. No mouse is needed at any point.
Why did my jump not register?
It almost certainly did. A press within 120 milliseconds of landing is held and fired on touchdown, so what often feels like a missed input is actually a jump that happened slightly later than you expected. If it genuinely did nothing, you were airborne and past the 80-millisecond grace window.
Does holding the button jump higher?
Yes, and it is the main skill in the game. A tap gives roughly half the height of a hold, which is enough for a small cactus and gets you back down in time for a quick follow-up.
Every figure on this page is read from the game's own tuning and recomputed on each build, so it describes the game you are actually playing rather than a version of it that once existed.
