How to play
Free, no sign-up, works offline.
There is nothing to learn and nothing to set up. The runner moves on its own; you decide when it leaves the ground. Everything else — the speed, the obstacles, the score — happens without you touching anything.
What to know
- Press space, click, or tap anywhere to jump. Hold the button down for a higher jump, tap it for a short hop.
- Press the down arrow, or hold the lower part of the screen, to duck under the low birds.
- The high birds fly above your head. Do nothing and they pass harmlessly — it is jumping into them that ends runs.
- The game starts at 330 units a second and climbs towards 900. It gets faster for as long as you survive.
- Dying restarts in one press. There is no menu between attempts, on purpose.
In more detail
The first obstacle never arrives before two seconds in, so there is always time to get your bearings. For the first 18 seconds only the two simplest cacti appear; after that new shapes unlock one at a time, each given a few levels to become familiar before the next arrives. By level 12 all 7 obstacle types are in rotation. You do not need to memorise any of this — the point of unlocking them gradually is that you learn each one while you still have the time to look at it.
Questions
What is the goal?
To last longer than you did last time. There is no ending, no level to complete and nothing to unlock — the only target is the dashed line on the track, which marks your own best run.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It is a web page. It starts the moment it loads and keeps working if you lose your connection afterwards.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes, and it is designed for one thumb. Tap anywhere to jump; hold the bottom edge to duck. The page will not scroll or zoom while you play.
Every figure on this page is read from the game's own tuning and recomputed on each build, so it describes the game you are actually playing rather than a version of it that once existed.
